GRITFEST, GRIT BOOK, GRIT SHOW
Back In 1997 I co-wrote 'The Grit: the story of Lowestoft’s fishing village' with Jack Rose. That book is now at the heart of a new community words, film and music project devised by Poetry People and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
As part of the project in 2018 there has been schools workshops and next up is the GRITFEST celebration day in Sparrows Nest Park on Sunday 27 May.
Meanwhile I'm currently busy revising The Grit book and writing a new show - bringing to life the characters and stories of the old fishing village. Both book and show will be coming to Lowestoft in September 2018. More details about the book (including a pre-publication offer) and the show (when tickets are available and where to get them) will be posted her in the coming weeks. You can also follow The Grit on Facebook and to get more news or read more about the project over at the Poetry People website.
THE BUBBLE WRAP AVAILABLE
My new collection for children, The Bubble Wrap, is now available. I've also illustrated the book too in my own 'jaunty' style and we're saying it's suitable for children of all ages - from five to ninety five! Packed with poems you’ll also discover the best things about a sneeze, good words to send by bubble (and the best way to wrap them) and the noise a cow makes… going backwards down the stairs. It's published by a new imprint from the Poetry Business, 'Small Donkey' and is priced £6.95. You can buy it here.
